Dracula

Dracula is a 1897 classic by Bram Stoker. Where Johnathan Harker is going to visit Count Dracula in his castle in Transylvania. After a trip it is set up like a medical mystery of why their friend Lucy is weak and ill. Of course, as the reader we know that the bats hanging outside her window are not just bats and those small needle marks on her neck are an issue. Talk about a twisty episode of house (I would take more episodes with supernatural answers). There’s a whole scene in this book about digging up graves that is my favorite part. I would recommend it if you like twisty gothic style mysteries, understanding cultural references, and flamboyant house hosts. I would not recommend if you don’t like old style language, lots of journal entries, and passive ladies waiting to be saved. I will say that due to the flourishes of the language I did read it in smaller chunks to keep my attention up. Plus you get to learn all about Reinfeld for the new movie this week!
