Carmilla

Carmilla is an 1872 book based on a bloodsucking woman named Carmilla. Her ways of seducing her “friend” Laura in not so subtle terms. This book came out before Dracula but it’s shocking to me that it came out 26 years earlier by the Irish author Joseph Sheridan Le Fanu (if an irish man wrote it that could be where the paleness came from coming from a Scotch Irish ginger). It feels more like a novel wrote today in historical fiction style than an actual classic novel with it’s LGBTQ themes. It’s definitely a must read for any fan of vampires or classic horror. You get to see a lot of the vampire trope’s origins. Let us know if you’ve read this masterpiece.
